We’re not sure how the Ambrosia Beetle came to be named after the food of mythical Greek Gods but the wood created when these farming insects invade is something to see.
In nature it’s survival of the fittest. The beetles bore into weakened trees and plant their own fungus into the heartwood. Both the adults and larvae feed only on the fungus they plant. Perhaps it the beetles own form of ambrosia.
When we saw this dining table crafted by Dinec from Ambrosia Maple we had to buy it.
